Hi, I'm Mel!
I was born in Toms River, NJ in a wonderful home filled with puppies, three siblings, and a great landscape for my wild imagination. My heart has always been attached to musical theatre. I practically spend my childhood pretending that I was Marta Von Trapp from "The Sound of Music" -- I even convinced my mother to sew me a 1940's Austrian style dress that I wore constantly. My love of imagining that I lived in different worlds easily transferred into my love of performing onstage. When I realized that I could actually spend my life doing something so wonderful, I became razor focussed on that goal and have never looked back.
I grew up performing in local shows and bussing back and forth from New York City every weekend to participate in Broadway Dance Center's children and teen program. I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre at Coastal Carolina University. My favorite credits included playing "Connie" in The 1940's Radio Hour, "Lenny" in Crimes of The Heart, and "Judy" in A Chorus Line. I was also the Cassie understudy and Dance Captain. 5,6,7,8! Two days after graduation, I joined Carnival Cruise Line's Playlist Productions as a dancer/singer. I spent seven months out at sea performing in their concert style shows.
I most proudly portrayed "Val" in the 2018 National and International Tour of A Chorus Line! This tour was a dream come true. Under the music direction of Patrick Vaccariello, choreography and direction of Baayork Lee, and direction of Peter Pileski -- getting to work with the Broadway revival creative team was nothing less than spectacular.
I have since worked for Norwegian Cruise Line as a Singer/Dancer, and most recently stepped up as "Vocal Captain". Getting to grow from being a dancer to a leading vocalist has been incredibly fulfilling.
Thanks for visiting!
